Associate Professor in Nutrition and Inflammatory Bowel Disease

The National Center of Excellence for Molecular Prediction of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (PREDICT), based at Department of Clinical Medicine, Aalborg University (AAU) in Copenhagen, is looking to recruit a talented Associate Professor in Nutrition and Inflammatory Bowel Disease for a full-time (37 hours per week) position from 1 March 2027 to 28 February 2031.

 

Your work tasks    

The Associate Professor will take primary responsibility for new research projects – from study planning to study conduct, writing of scientific papers, obtaining of funding and presentation of research at national and international meetings, and training of students – while transitioning to become as independent researcher. The successful candidate will also have administrative tasks related to the everyday running of the Center, as part of the team of group leaders referring to the Center Director.

The Associate Professor will be referring to the Center Director, working closely with the Center’s interdisciplinary group of scientists to perform forefront, international research. The place of work will be Aalborg University Copenhagen campus (Copenhagen South Harbour), where the core facilities of the National Center for Excellence are located.

   

Your competencies  

We are looking to recruit an outstanding Associate Professor who is eager to take the lead in the Center’s expertise in nutritional aspect of IBD, including nutritional epidemiology, application of novel molecular approaches within nutritional research, and intervention studies. The Associate professor will perform high impact research on how nutrition influences the development of and disease course in IBD. Examples of study areas include macro and micronutrients, processed foods, food additives and dietary patterns. The Center has access to valuable resources for nutritional epidemiology studies, including biological samples, as well as a high-ranking clinical setting for intervention studies.

Qualification requirements

Appointment as an associate professor requires research and teaching qualifications at the level that can be achieved through the satisfactory completion of a period of employment as an assistant professor but may also be obtained in other ways.  

It is a precondition that applicants have documented research at an international standard. In addition, applicants are assumed to have received supervision and pedagogical skills development and to have obtained a positive written assessment of their teaching qualifications.

Salary and terms of employment 

The employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities and the Ministerial Order on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Furthermore, your terms of employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement between the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations and the state (AC collective agreement) and protocol on certain terms of employment of academic staff at universities.
