Research-to-Innovation Infrastructure Developer

The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences (SUND), University of Copenhagen (UCPH), is one of Europe’s premier health faculties. It serves 7,838 students, employs 4,056 full-time staff members, operates on a 3.4 billion DKK revenue, and produces 5,600 scientific publications and 33 new inventions annually. Located in the heart of Copenhagen, it is home to 13 Research Departments, 4 Research Centers, and 3 University Hospitals. Importantly, SUND is centrally placed in relation to Innovation District Copenhagen and Medicon Valley Alliance.

Last year, SUND strategically invested in the creation of a new center, the Center for Core Facilities (CCF), bringing world-class infrastructures under one umbrella, making it easier for researchers, educators, and innovators to access technologies that drive and support excellent Research, Innovation, and Education.

It is increasingly accepted that competitive innovation requires focus on supporting early innovation stages, from idea to proof of concept. A key CCF strategic goal is to consolidate and coordinate existing infrastructures towards the implementation of efficient research-to-innovation services. Supporting SUND researchers in the development of their ideas and discoveries towards societal impact and innovation. This work requires a fully dedicated Research-to-Innovation Infrastructure Developer with solid experience in the early-stage innovation processes.

About the position
In this position, you will play a central role in developing the research-to-innovation ecosystem at SUND by mapping and bridging facilities and infrastructures that scientists/innovators need access to during their journey from knowledge to societal value. Day-to-day tasks will focus on:

• Build & maintain a live map of SUND’s research-to-innovation facilities, expertise & research infrastructures,

• Translate the map into a searchable resource for life scientists in need (incl. academia, SMEs, startups & industry),

• Proactively disseminate existing relevant resources for innovators across sectors,

• Actively secure that infrastructures comply with industry standards,

• Contribute to developing standard collaboration and service provision agreement between institutions and sectors,

• Coordinate matchmaking between research/innovators needs and the right facilities / combination of expertise.

About you
We expect applicants to have a scientific background (preferably a PhD) in a relevant field, possibly have own experience as a research innovator (incl. experience from hands-on drug discovery and development, entrepreneurship, technology transfer or research commercialization is an advantage), and it will be an advantage but not a prerequisite to have worked with fundraising and stakeholder management.

More concretely, we are looking for a candidate with:

• strong mediation skills to create bridges across existing infrastructures

• strong project management skills

• experience and interest in managing research-to-innovation processes

• strong communication skills and fluency in English

• Danish is an advantage but not a requirement

It will be considered an advantage to have experience in:

• Danish public private partnership legal frames

• developing and implementing legal collaboration and service provision agreements

• facilitating and/or managing consortium towards new solutions

The successful candidate will join the CCF Administration and Development Support team, and work very closely with the SUND Innovation Board, the KU INNO team, and the Innovation District Copenhagen.

Salary and Terms of Employment
The employment is a full-time, fixed-term position for 2,5 years, starting 1 December 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. Depending on qualifications the position will take place as Special Consultant or Senior Consultant in accordance with the Circular on the Collective Agreement concerning Academics in the state sector concluded between the Danish Ministry of Finance and Akademikerne (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
